To touch wood or knock on wood is a superstition action to ward off any evil consequences or bad luck, perhaps because of some recent action you’ve taken or untimely boasting about your good fortune (“I’ve never been in danger of drowning, touch wood”); it can also be a charm to bring good luck.

The origin is unknown, though some writers have pointed to pre-Christian rituals involving the spirits of sacred trees such as the oak, ash, holly or hawthorn. There is, I’m told, an old Irish belief that you should knock on wood to let the little people know that you are thanking them for a bit of good luck. There’s also a belief that the knocking sound prevents the Devil from hearing your unwise comments. Others have sought a meaning in which the wood symbolises the timber of the cross, but this may be a Christianisation of an older ritual. It wasn’t always wood that was lucky: in older days, iron was also thought to have magical properties, and to touch iron was an equivalent preventative against ill-fortune.

The phrase itself is relatively modern, as the oldest citation for the British version of the phrase, touch wood, that I can find dates only from 1899. The American equivalent knock on wood is roughly contemporary, with my first example from 1905.

It learnt that male have 9 level of thinking compare to 1 for female.. and .. male having 1 level of desire compare to 9 for female.

What With Malay First, Malaysian Second?

What is wrong of being Chinese first Malaysian second when most our Chinese can,t compose a beautiful fun rhyme of pantun, reject assimilation, registering Chinese name and having zhong wen charachter everywhere. Some people are wandering on the lane of cheap old hypocrism just to get a hard hit right on their face. Previously, they wanted Bahasa Melayu to be called Bahasa Malaysia but it seems like they are chronically confused what Malaysia is at the very first place! There is no Chinese element in Bahasa Malaysia so it should be called Bahasa Melayu logically.

Remember, we can't tow this piece of land to somewhere in East Asia. So those enlightened Chinese should be sane enough to see that for Thailand, yes, they are Thailand first and Chinese the next. So do Chinese in the Philipines and Indonesia.

Here, in this country, while they are proud to retain much of their cultural pheriperal and paraphernalia, they are in fact, Chinese first, Malaysian second. Read that twice. Being in racial segregation without assimilation is a fact of race first, nation the next.

New Economic Model. How New?

Amazing enough to look upon our PM doing alot of homeworks just to ensure our nation become a high income country.

But all this while, doesn't we are lazy enough to accomodate innovation prodigies, to encourage mass economic income from our very own invention and having chances and opportunities taken for granted?

Braindrain is an acute phenomenon in this lovely country. Most are caused by the paradoxial thought of this country is not promising. OK, let them go. We have no lack of researchers if we could polish the brass to get it glittering like gold. A bad penny always turns up.

Let me list down things that we did neglect previously.

1. With abundance of valuable rubber commodity and a good prospect of concrete technology, we are not having our engineers invent an earthquake proof houses for billions of people worlwide that prone to the disaster.

2. With most people worldwide are seeing car as unaffordable mode of own transportation, we are not having our Modenas produce a low cost bike to accomodate the needs of billions.

3. With football that giving way for the illegal gambling operators to make billions a year, we did not have any licensed football gambling operators to operate business with gambling tax imposed handsomely.

That is a mere examples that I have right superficially. I always believe that the first thought that is correct, is always better than an overnight study.

Work On Patience, Paid With Happiness!

One of my friends, like 5 years younger than me, is shifting his carachteristic from an unemployed happy boy with degree into a government executive officer in state forestry department.

From a V125 scooter, he bought MyVi SE (as I prohibit him buying Vios - for his own sake lah kan... MACC will sniff everything including dirty laundry.. LOL). He is a good serviceman and rejects grafts. Good for him.

He then, bought a sport rim for his MyVi but it is worse than looking at a bullock cart, so he change it within few days.

His skyrocketing expenditure is far above friends average and thus, more and more are started to talk behind his back. They'd talked about his stingy, his new way of characteristic, and his new culture of leaving friends in nightly alfresco for another new friends in coffee-houses.

Some did try to set a fraudulent anxiety for him, acting like MACC officer, calling him to summon to the MACC office for graft investigation. How mean!

But the fact is, none of what he did is offensive. The feel of annoying by most of our friends is lit up by the jealousy and the pot of annoy is now cooking various dishes by hands of afew and the additional flavour that required most is gossips.

LAST WEEK, a big lightning stroke everyone into a stunned creature for a moment, and confused on the next. It just not stop everything but the way they look at this fella.

This fella had won a RM100,000 weekly prize of Shell lucky draw which ended on that very last draw. He was the Perak's winners as the winners are choosen from different state each week.

Those among our friends that dying waiting for the result of thrice a week 4D lucky numbers betting is throwing their belongings in their room and had a screamy cry I guess.

This lucky boy had won RM100K without connected with offense of gambling and the amount he will recieve is tax waived.

Now that is a happy moment for those who are set themselves happy, even everyone around him try to make him feel unhappy.

And I was sharing his happiness too as I heard that he wanted to go along with me to Bandung on this June even realizing that the Air Asia ticket for the very same flight with me is now cost RM480 return. I bought it on January for RM174.

"Aku nak 5 seluar, 5 baju, 3 jaket, kat Bandung" I told him. "No hal punya. Boleh je." he replied. So what is happiness without sharing it kan?

Hello! How Are You?

Heya. Its been awhile since I left this blog to focus on my other blog. The political pot in this country is boiling like a hot soup, best served hot, like what I've been told by my compatriots.

I did some 'research' on how happy all the person around me, those that I knew, in their recent life and absurdly, most of them are unhappy.

Cheated, betrayed, empty promised and all those that caused a peculiar signage in the facebook profile is like a bunch of component of this kind of 'playground'.

What is happiness and how to keep and maintain the happiness that seldomly came is a manouvre that less people have.

A big no for me in this kind of age to indulged in such game in such playground. All I need to have is a fun life, negotiable with the attitude that I called a default mode in me, and the most important is, not in a will of getting cursed.

Curse of God, of family, of friends and of employment superiors is the big factor of the reason behind unhappy life.

All us should revise what have we did and comprehense that all the error made that caused unhappiness is something ratifiable. Put a large stock of positive thinking in our inspacious brain and get focused on all the things that keep us alive.

What was the main things that will keep you alive? Your job, the salary and all the fringe benefits.
